Digital SLR camera sensors are like a magnet for dust and like it or not, your DSLR will sooner or later fall victim to it.
Dust accumulates on your digital SLR's sensor when either your camera body cap or lens is removed which is unfortunately, something we all do at some time or other - this is a natural process for all digital single lens reflex camera owners, including you no doubt.
So here are a few little tips you can take to minimise dust settling on your valuable sensor (or filter which sits above your internal sensor):
- when not in use - keep your lenses clean and capped at all times ...
- use a blower (but not compressed canned air) to remove any visible dust from your sensor ...
- commercial tools are available but exercise extreme caution and follow their instructions carefully ...
- if you still have internal dust on your sensor - send your camera back to the manufacturer for professional cleaning ...
TIP: ALWAYS turn off the power to your digital infrared camera before changing lenses as the chip inside the DSLR remains statically charged whilst power runs through your camera which results in dust, quite literally, being sucked into your camera body.
CAUTION: Exercise extreme caution if you attempt to clean your DSLR's imaging chip as most camera manufacturers state that your warranty will become VOID if you attempt this action - in light of this, I recommend you proceed at your own risk.
